There is nothing that comes close to traveling by train – everything is someone else’s problem, there’s lots of room to move about, and the constantly changes. It’s awesome, as is stepping off your train and entering Union Station in Toronto.
The station is aging – somewhat in a graceful manner, and somewhat in a shabby manner. It’s a shame, as it is a reflection on the state of rail travel within Canada.
At the same time, the station is vibrant as it is also home to the Go Trains, and despite the sedate appearance of the stately VIA level, is amazingly busy and frenetic in other areas.
This is an experience not to be missed if you are in Toronto.
