Baldwin – Lafontaine Monument

The Baldwin – Lafonaine monument was created by Walter Seymour Allward, best known for his design of the very imposing Canadian Battlefields Memorial in Vimy, France. Erected in 1914, it is the only monument on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Ontario to honour two statesmen at once.

This monument is also known as the ‘whispering wall’. If you sit on one end of the bench and whisper into the wall to someone sitting at the other end of the bench they will hear you quite clearly.
