Just a barn – Chemainus

A barn along the Trans Canada Highway just south of Mt Sicker Road.

According to Google, this is in Chemainus, which surprised me somewhat as I have always thought that Chemainus was that place with the murals – to the west of the highway.

Every day I learn something about Vancouver Island…

It’s not really Chemainus (even if some postal addresses here use Chemainus as a locality). Mt Sicker Rd is the centre of the old farming community of Westholme. There is still a Westholme post office (in the gas station at the corner of Mt Sicker & TCH). Had you gone “one block” east of here, you would have encountered the old one-room Westholme School, which has been preserved by locals. Love your journeys and your photos!
