I see a lot of barbed wire – it’s a fact of life around air ports and military bases, and also around farms and fields.  There’s an interesting artistry and chaotic symmetry to the wooden fences…

    When I was a young girl we used to untangle the ‘barbs’ off the wire in order to have useable lengths of bailing wire, so useful around the home. It was a slow, sometimes painful pastime, but did put the old discarded barbwire from the old military base to a new use in the workshop, etc.
